I got the chance to again collaborate with the creative minds at Wētā FX and work another part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Thor: Love and Thunder”(2022) directed by Taika Waititi. This electrifying project was a blast to work on as it fused comedy, drama and action into many entertaining shots.
My role involved helping animate many of the final battle scenes within the “Gateway to Eternity”, animating the hero characters, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman), Gorr (Christian Bale) and their hero weapons, Mjölnir (Thor’s Hammer), Stormbreaker (Thor’s Axe) and the Necrosword (Gorr’s Sword). The work also involved animating various Asgardian kids and a wide range of Shadow Monster creatures all with lots of tentacles, many many legs, fangs and claws all battling out in an outer space hall with plenty of lightning FX. The final work seamlessly combines live action characters blending into digital double and back again.
Performances were a mixture of keyframe, heavily edited motion capture and match moves.
