My Role Animator / Designer / AR
The team at PHORIA masterminded the 4D Melbourne project, bringing together a collaboration with three local councils, City of Melbourne x City of Yarra x City of Port Phillip. Their goal was to deliver a hyper-localised wayfinding experience across multiple dimensions of space.
4D Melbourne: Unearth the Invisible seeks to challenge the way we perceive environments, and how we strive for positive community engagement moving forward in the world. The smart device app was featured during Melbourne Knowledge Week 2018 (MKW18), as well as at Google’s prestigious developer conference, I/O 2018.
Melbourne Knowledge Week (MKW) is the City of Melbourne’s week-long, annual festival of ideas for a smart and innovative city, where all Melburnians are engaged to explore, discuss and ideate our future together.
Melbourne’s best and brightest are celebrated, as the community explores smart, innovative and unique solutions to improve one of the world's most liveable cities.
I was brought on to the project to help drive the stories of the various featured locations around the city using animation in augmented reality. My role was animating, rigging and structuring the 3d scenes for play back in real time (Unity). The project saw me collaborating with multiple artists, by bringing all their creations to life, all tied together with the recorded dialogue.
